About WholeCare Health
Who is WholeCare Health for?+
WholeCare Health is designed for adults 18 and older who are physically located in California and want proactive, personalized healthcare that fits into their daily lives. It's especially well-suited for people who are busy, can't easily get to a clinic, or have been frustrated by rushed appointments and insurance red tape.
Who are the providers at WholeCare Health?+
All telehealth services are provided by Ruth Ramirez, MSN, APRN, FNP-C — a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner licensed in California with 18 years of clinical experience. The practice Medical Director is Dr. Carla Soler, M.D. (NPI: 1407836687), a board-certified family physician and California-licensed physician. Ruth practices under a collaborative agreement with Dr. Soler as required by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
Is telehealth real medical care?+
Yes. Telehealth allows providers to deliver meaningful, evidence-based medical care while removing barriers like travel, scheduling conflicts, and mobility challenges. While we can't perform a full physical exam, we can assess many conditions through video consultation, order labs, prescribe medications, and provide ongoing care. For issues requiring hands-on evaluation, we'll let you know upfront.
Will I feel rushed during my appointment?+
No. WholeCare Health was intentionally designed to allow time for meaningful conversations so you feel heard, supported, and informed. This is not a 7-minute click-through appointment.
What services do you offer?+
Services include:
- Acute illness visits ($55 · 15 min)
- Comprehensive health management ($100 · 30 min)
- Medical weight management (starting at $125 · 30 min)

How long is each appointment?+
Acute and follow-up visits are typically 15 minutes. Primary care and specialist consultations are 30 minutes to allow time for comprehensive assessment and personalized planning.
Insurance & Payment
Why don't you accept insurance?+
WholeCare Health operates as a self-pay practice so patients can receive care without waiting for insurance approvals or restrictions. This lets visits focus entirely on your health needs rather than insurer limitations. We can provide a superbill upon request so you may seek reimbursement through your own insurance plan on your own.
How do I pay?+
Payment is due at the time of booking through Practice Better, our scheduling and EHR platform. We accept all major payment methods. We can provide a superbill for potential insurance reimbursement depending on your plan — but we do not guarantee reimbursement.
Are medication and lab costs included in the visit price?+
No. Medication and laboratory costs are separate from visit pricing and will always be discussed transparently before anything is prescribed or ordered. WholeCare Health will never surprise you with a cost you didn't know about.
Weight Management
What does the $125 weight management fee cover?+
The $125 covers your Initial Comprehensive Assessment, Nutrition Guidance and Meal Planning, and the creation of your personalized weight management care plan. Medication and laboratory costs are separate and discussed before anything is prescribed or ordered.
Will I need weight loss medication?+
Not everyone needs medication. Ruth will assess your individual health situation during your initial evaluation to determine whether GLP-1 medications are appropriate for you. If they are, the full cost, benefits, and potential side effects will be discussed before anything is prescribed.
Is there a free consultation for weight management?+
Yes — we offer a free 10-minute discovery call for weight management only. This is an informational call to help you decide if the program is right for you. It does not include medical diagnosis, evaluation, or prescription.

Clinical & Telehealth
Can everything be treated via telehealth?+
Not all medical conditions can be safely evaluated through telehealth. In some cases, you may be advised to seek in-person evaluation, laboratory testing, or diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, CT scans, or ultrasound studies. We'll always be upfront when telehealth has limits for your specific situation.
Does WholeCare Health prescribe controlled substances?+
No. WholeCare Health does not prescribe controlled substances, including opioid medications, benzodiazepines, stimulant medications (such as Adderall), or other federally controlled substances.
Is my health information secure?+
Yes. We use HIPAA-compliant, encrypted platforms for all consultations and maintain strict privacy standards. Your health information will never be sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
What if I have a medical emergency?+
Telehealth is not for emergencies. If you're experiencing a life-threatening situation — chest pain, severe shortness of breath, thoughts of self-harm — call 911 immediately or go to your nearest emergency room. WholeCare Health provides non-emergency medical care only.
Do you see patients outside California?+
No. WholeCare Health provides telehealth services exclusively to adults age 18 and older who are physically located in the state of California at the time of their visit. This is required by state licensing laws.
